stupid john mayer with his stupid laryngitis. not like i wanted to see his whiny ass perform tonigth anyway... and not like my 11th row seats weren't good or anything. really now. :o/

so yeah, mr. mayer has laryngitis, so he was a no-show. luckily, we're gonna be able to get a refund on our tix, but thats hardly the point. sigh. lauren and i took a road trip to the madison surf club instead and spent the night chatting on the beach. quite lovely.

turns out my first solo open at newingtonb (monday) is going to be a helluva morning. it just so happens to be the day we're installing the new grill. never a dull moment with my opens. this might outrank the cracked door incident for my most 'it's one of those days' kind of days.

sigh. i need another beach night. and another orange creme slurpee.

status report for the week of 8/16-8/21

wednesday was uneventful. i worked, but can't remember what i did.

thursday: opened the west hartford tucc, then went over to newington to work a mid. did i mention i'm getting transferred to newington to be a full time manager? yeah... there's a real fun story to go with that one, but i dont feel like typing the whole schpiel right now.

friday: nothing to note. worked. shocker.

saturday: long day at work. cancelled my usual dinner date with lauren due to exhaustion

sunday: worked as a server. the night was made a bit better by a brief cameo by johnny b

monday: got my new glasses FINALLY. they're rather chic, if i do say so myself. HUNG OUT WITH MATT tonight :o) we got hot dogs from Blackie's in cheshire, then went to B&R farms to pet the horses, and finished the night with sweet claude's ice cream. did you know they made bailey's irish creme coffee?!

so yeah, i'm going to bed now. (yes, bed before midnight. knock on wood, but i might be turning over a new leaf). working a mid at newington tomorrow (10-8)

FINE brad, i'll update, but just for you ;o)

so, lets see... what has happened to me in the past week...

tuesday: opened the tucc. splendid time, really. brad and i did dinner. lindsay was going to meet up with us but had to celebrate her brother's birthday. pick made a lovely, if not hairier stand-in. we had mexican food. we drank a pitcher of sangria. we laughed. we cried. we played boggle. a fine time was had by all, aside from brad, who almost got into an accident on the way up from bethel and got a ticket on the way back down. ouch.

wednesday: went to misquamicut with lydia. had a blast in the bath-like water. i think we stayed on the blanket long enough to eat a sandwich. got one of the worst sunburns i've ever gotten. visited christa afterwards, where i had a drink. BAD idea.... this made me realize how dehydrated i was once i had gotten to bertucci's to help with inventory. went home. went to bed.

thursday: woke up at 6am so dehydrated that i was hung over, for all intents and purposes. great time to open the restaurant, no? dealt with that all day. got out of work at 3:30pm. was going to hang out with lindsay, but something came up: my dad got rear-ended on his motorcycle and got thrown off his motorcyle. good times. spent the rest of the day/night tending to that.

friday: called out of work in the morning to keep an eye on pops. back to the hospital. more good times were had. my dad is VERY entertaining on vicodin. not so much so when he's coming down from it though. ugh. worked at night.

saturday: worked. big surprise.

sunday: worked. shocker

monday: guess what i did?! if you guessed 'worked', you get a cookie.

there brad, are you happy now?!? sheesh.

call me a sucker for a good movie, but i FINALLY cried while watching a movie.

i highly recommend "Big Fish". Directed by the eccentric tim burton, this movie is really quite funny and entertaining, but has such a good heart to it.
and to my astoundment, i actually started to cry at the end. i've seen this movie twice before, but it hasnt affected me the same any of the three times. and for some reason, this time, it made me cry.

i'm a bit stunned at this, since no movie has ever made me cry before (not even "city of angels", which pretty much every other female who has seen it couldnt stop crying over).

just thought i'd share my disbelief.

bad news: my always testy cell phone has died on me for no good reason, so cease and desist all texts, as i won't get them.

and now onto the good news....

WHY IT RULES TO BE ME: i am going to be in the bridal party of at least 2 weddings in the coming year :o)
1. christa and jim's wedding (oh, by the way my oldest sister and her bf of like 5 years finally got engaged. yay!!) will be june 30th 2007, and will be held in some part of connecticut yet to be determined
2. kelley and ruben asked me to be a bridesmaid for their wedding in april 2007 in fricking MEXICO, at an all-inclusive resort. wow.

so yeah, that, in short, is why it rules to be me, not that it didnt already.

oh, and saratoga pictures will be posted as soon as i retrieve my memory card from ryan's car.
