i'm in the process of cleaning out my apartment, and it got me thinking about everything that has happened to me in the past year. and i realized something: i wasted an entire year of my life. i dont think i've accomplished something i am truly proud of since this time last year. dont get me wrong, a lot happened, but i havent done anything with myself to have made this last year stellar... or anything greater than subpar, for that matter.
let's see, i got foot surgery, wasted two semesters at college, got my heart [for all intents and purposes] broken twice, and got a new job. woo. hoo. stellar year, really. (insert sarcastic voice and eye roll here)
here's hoping the next year proves to be a more accomplished one in my life.

im not really sure which is more annoying: my roommate's music, or hearing her sing it when she's listening to her headphones (and the wrong lyrics at that)
t minus 8 days and counting

there was a love affair in this building
the kind of love affair which every respectable building must keep as a legend
slowly festering through an innocent 'by the way' or 'have you heard'
he was perfect except for the fact that he was an engineer
and mothers prefer doctors and lawyers
yet despite this imperfection he was clean looking and respectable looking
and you'll never find a mother who doesn't appreciate a natural man
he grew healthy aloe vera plants by the window
healthy teeth in his mouth
healthy hair on his head
he grew healthy wavy brown hair on his head
the kind that babies always go for with sticky little fingers

.... i know the last page so well
i cant read the first
so i just dont start
it's getting worse
i wanna know what it's like
on the inside of love
standing at the gates
i see the beauty above
i wanna know what it's like
on the inside of love
i cant find my way in
i try again and again
i'm on the outside of love
always under or above
i cant find my way in
i try again and again
must be a different view
to be a me with a you
i wanna know what it's like
on the inside of love...
of course, i'll be alright
i just had a bad night.
1. gotta love nada surf
2. gotta love when your ipod shuffles right onto the perfect song to describe how you feel.

to my anonymous friend:
thank you, whoever you are, for getting back in touch with me. that was incredibly nice to know that someone was feeling nostalgic enough to think of me, get back in touch with me, and read my rants.
looks like i owe you $10 =)
seriously, whoever you are, you made my night (or rather morning)... im going to attempt to find you, but if i fail, get back in touch with me. it might actually be nice to catch up with you...
and thank you for making me smile at 3:13 in the morning. i needed that.

its snowing. in april. whoopdie-freakin-doo, people.
now, im not saying im not perturbed that the weather has gone from tropical to this in a matter of 4 days, but cmon people. this is new england. we get snow EVERY year in april. its winter's last hurrah. if i've been able to figure this out (and we all know that sometimes my powers of perception are less than keen) then why the hell hasnt the rest of the new england population figured this out. ive talked with 2 people in the past 2 hours, and both have had a complaint about the snow.
you dont like it? move to bloody florida.
too lazy to move? dont worry. it'll be 51 on thursday. oh WAIT thats tomorrow. still not good enough for you? stick your head in the nearest oven. preferably gas. okay, that didnt work? wait around a couple of months. dont worry, soon enough it'll be a balmy 95 degrees and we can all sit around and complain about how hot it is. (however, that will be warranted... if only for people like me that bust out in a sweat if the temperautre is over 75)
okay, now that i'm done ranting... i'm going to finish my cleaning. ive been up all night doing it, and i am NOT going to let the damned computer keep distracting me, damnit!!
*if you were offended by the previous rant and want someone to be mad at, be mad at mother nature, damnit. i'm running on zero sleep. im allowed to be cranky.

first things first, does my blog look right, or does it justcome up as a massive "bandwidth exceeded" thingie? i'd be pretty livid if it is the latter, since i spent like 2 hours on it, ut let me know plzkthnx
its been and interesting weekend, to say the least...
thursday: lauren and i met up to go shopping for work clothes... which quickly became an hour in vistoria's secret followed by wandering around aimlessly. so we ditched shopping since that wasnt gonna happen and went to the macaroni grill instead (lauren also noted that we were both wearing the exact same outfits the last 3 times we had gone. ah well). we then went for one of our classic random drives.
quotes of the night
- lauren: aahhh! boyz II men! 'water runs dry'! that place sells chipwiches! (last sentence said while pointing at a 7-11)
- me: you wanna go see r.kelly?
lauren: no, not really
me: oh, come on, you look like you're 13. we would SO get backstage
lauren: HAHAHA
me: you know what would make my life? if we went r.kelly. you could look at him and go "aaarrggghhh" because of the 'r', then i could look at him and go "gyaaarrr" and then we walk away. for the rest of his life, he'd have a story about these crazy white girls.
- lauren: (after like 3 hours crammed in her truck) has your ass fallen asleep yet?
me: nah, but thats because i've been changing positions. next i'm gonna try the pretzel!
oh, and while we were driving around lake compounce, lauren hit a goose. it was just randomly standing in the middle of the road at 11PM. we turned around to examine it, and the thing was d-e-d. it had tried flying away right before lauren slammed into it, so it was frozen in spread eagle in the middle of one of the busiest stoner driving routes in central connecticut. i tried to go back to take a picture of rigor mortis in action, but someone else hit it. fricking hysterical.
friday: i got a tremendous haircut from my boy dan at The Angry Chair. lovelovelove it. worked at koji at night, as always. ryan and i got some thai food before the shift. fricking SENSATIONAL. um, work was okay. the drawer was short a ridiculous amount, so we had to bite the bullet with our tips, but such is life i guess. chilled with ryan and woody briefly after work, finished my thai food... nothing really to speak of.
saturday: i was supposed to go to boston with tara to check out apartments, but since i left work at 4am the night before, i wasnt up to it... horray exhaustion. ended up sleeping until 2pm. i made a rare saturday night appearance at koji to cover for Messy, since he had to go work a fundraiser. it was dead for most of the evening, until noel, nate, marissa, gwen, chris, and dr. jon showed up to come steal me away to go to club 960. so i left work at 10:30pm and hit the club for the first time in like 2 years. and for the first time since my 18th birthday, i had a ball. i couldnt believe it myself that iwas actually having fun, but yeah, it was awesome. Gabriel and Dresden from san fran were spinning, and did a banging job (though as jon pointed out, they were playing off a computer, which doesnt take too much talent. would have been more impressive if they were actually spinning). saw SO many people i knew there... lets see, mr. dan gifiesman and sharon, along with some of their friends, eric and greg from WHUconn, matti (a koji regular), crotti's girl jess... i honestly cant even keep track of all the people i knew there.
after 960, i ducked into koji just to say hi to everyone, and ended up going to agave with reynolds at what should have been 2am, but was now 3am (thanks daylight savings). hung out, had some cervescas and some tequila with reynolds, chip, and bernie.
sunday: woke up mad late, as always. rolled out of bed, had some breakfast, got ready for work... and puked. and puked. aanndd puked some more. so i called out of work at koji for the second time. normally i'd feel really guilty about this, however i bent over backwards to work for them during the billy joel concerts, so WHATEVER. i dont even care that tonight was going to be my first night of actual bartending, at least until 7pm or so. i didnt get so much as a thank you for working last night, let alone the billy joel concerts. so i spent the rest of the day watching the women's final four and puking at regular intervals. now, i know you naysayers would probably be convinced that this was on account fo my drinking the night before, and normally i'd agree. BUT i would have puked last night if that was really the case. and i wouldnt have been puking consistently throughout the day. just bad, BAD timing on a stomach bug. i've probably given far too much info about my stomach, so im gonna stop now
besides, its almost 3am, and i have a busy day tomorrow.
